Imelda grew up in the Laragh, Glendalough area, with a keen interest in art, music, local history and writing. Her artistic ability was first recognised by her art teacher in secondary school who encouraged her to enter art competitions, in which she won several prizes.
In the intervening years, her art was a hobby, her paintings given as gifts, or requested by family and friends. Her work as a writer includes articles for historical journals, editorial content and publicity and advertising copy for companies and individuals in a variety of professions. She ‘ghosted’ a memoir, published in 2008, provided editorial assistance to a number of other authors of fiction and non-fiction, and written scripts for TV documentaries, audio-visual presentations and lectures.
Imelda is a member of Glendalough Arts Network, and is exhibiting her work for the first time at Riverside Art Gallery.
