Hello and welcome to our second blog post!
There is so much happening at the Gallery at the moment. Our new Auction Date has been set for September 6th.
We are also at the Dublin Horse Show, Stand no R3. Please call and visit us if you are coming to the show and have a browse.
We have a brilliant (unframed) aquatint “Portrait of a Horse” by a very talented Polish artist Kostulski in the Gallery. This is also on display in the RDS at the Dublin Horse Show. It’s very reasonably priced at €110 and can be framed on request.
Aquatint is an intaglio printmaking technique, a variant of etching. Intaglio printmaking makes marks on the matrix (in the case of aquatint, a copper or zinc plate) that are capable of holding ink. The inked plate is passed through a printing press together with a sheet of paper, resulting in a transfer of the ink to the paper.
The Evangelists, Sts Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are also on display. These paintings are the property of Mr. Paddy O’Toole and will be installed in the new Oratory being built at Ballybeg House.
They are a mixed media with gilding on prepared hessian canvas which is mounted onto boards. The paintings are in the Art Nouveau style, circa 1890 and are possibly by painted by Joshua Clarke (father of Harry Clarke).
We will be updating our blog regularly so please pop back soon for more news!
Tinahely really comes alive over the August Bank Holiday as thousands flock to the Tinahely Show. The Gallery will be open every day so pop into the Riverside Business Centre, have a coffee in D'Lish and browse the art work on display.
